IGNOU ID Card for July 2024 Students 

For the new students, following are the steps of how to download an IGNOU ID card for the July 2024 session.

  • Every student has to download their ID card through the Samarth Portal through the link https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in
  • Then the students will enter their details to Login.
  • If students have forgotten their username and password, they can retrieve it by clicking on the button ‘Forget Username and password’ on the Login page.
  • After opening the portal students have to click on the ‘services’ button which will be on the left side of the page.
  • Then they have to search and have to click on the ID card option.
  • Then they have to click on the Download link to get the PDF file.
  • Once the PDF is downloaded the students have to put their enrolment number to view the ID card.
  • Students can save the ID card in their device or they can take a print out according to their convenience.

After receiving admission approval from the University, every student will get a unique 10 digit enrolment number as a proof of admission. The enrollment number will remain the same throughout the course. Method 1:- First, the students have to reset their username and password with the help of the control number that the students will receive after the submission of the admission form. By this method the students can retrieve their username and password. After retrieving the username and password, the student will use the new username and password to login to the portal for IGNOU ID card download.

Method 2:- If by any chance you couldn’t retrieve your username and password then you still have one option left. In this case, you have to visit your respective regional centre and have to generate your enrolment number with the help of any government ID card to get your ID card.

Can I Collect the IGNOU ID card Offline?

If you have taken admission in IGNOU offline, then you must visit your respective regional centre to get the ID card offline. Secondly, if you have taken admission online, but are not able to download the ID card then also you can visit the regional centre to collect your ID card. If you are willing to collect the ID card offline then follow the steps instructed by the authorities of the regional centre. While collecting the ID card offline students must carry all the necessary documents like- Payment Acknowledgement Receipt after admission, and the printout of the Admission Confirmation email. Students also have to carry any government ID proof like the Aadhar card or the Voter ID card.

All the students are requested to check all the details filled in their ID cards like name, course code, session etc. It is asked to do so that they can correct the wrong information in their ID card before the commencement of the first term examination. If students continue with the wrong information on their ID card then the same information will be printed on their marksheet and certificate, so they are asked to correct it before the first examination. 

Uses of IGNOU ID card

Students must carry their ID cards whenever they are attending any events of IGNOU University. So they are asked to keep a printed copy of their ID cards whenever they are attending the following IGNOU events-

  • While submitting IGNOU Assignment to the study centre or regional centre.
  • While appearing in the term end examination at the IGNOU exam centre.
  • During the practical examination.
  • In counselling sessions.

IGNOU Duplicate ID card Process

Students can download the ID card only once from the given link, so all the students are requested to keep the downloaded ID card safe. But if you have lost your ID card, then don’t worry. With the help of the following process you can issue a duplicate ID card.

  • First, visit your nearest police station to file an FIR for lost ID card.
  • Then visit your designated IGNOU regional centre, with a copy of the FIR, one government approved ID proof and a demand draft of Rs. 200 in the name of IGNOU.
  • After visiting the regional centre follow the steps instructed by the authorities and soon you will get your duplicate ID card.
